All Roads Lead To Washington

Posted by Columbo
May 31, 2008

Or so we’re beginning to think.  There is yet another bus company throwing their hat into the ring, megabus service started on Friday in DC, and it picks up at the same corner (11th & G NW) as the BoltBus we’ve written about before.
The side of the bus advertises many cities, but if you’re departing from DC, [...]

Jaleo’s Liquor License Suspended – ABRA Tells Us Why

Posted by gpliving
May 30, 2008

There was a short discussion a couple of days ago regarding a yellow liquor license suspension notice posted on Jaleo’s window (480 7th St NW). So, we asked DC’s Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA) why the license was suspended and received this response:
Jaleo is serving a suspension from May 26-29, 2008 for a sale [...]

What Is This Valet Reading?

Posted by pqresident
May 29, 2008

You might think this valet seated on the low rise ledge outside Asia Nine is reading a notice of some kind or maybe he’s looking at a list of already stowed cars. I wondered myself…peering through the window more closely from my sushi bar perch, I saw four columns of alphabetically arranged common English words [...]

Project Awareness Litter Campaign

Posted by Columbo
May 28, 2008

We’ve written various litter related posts before, but this morning we noticed a grassroots campaign (at least we think it’s a campaign) aimed at stopping litter.  This campaign takes up the fight for wildlife – the last line (not completely legible in the photo) reads “Animals Don’t Have A Voice But We Do.”
Quick Internet searches didn’t [...]

Posted by Columbo
May 26, 2008

Certainly there are lots of events going on today in & around DC, but we like to highlight the Memorial in the heart of our neighborhood.  The Navy Memorial will be hosting several events throughout the day today including the Navy Band Concert starting at 1:30.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day.

The Bus As The Preferred Mode Of Travel

Posted by Columbo
May 25, 2008

This is the first time we’ve ever seen the new BoltBus service have a line more than about 10 people deep.  Friday afternoon around 2 pm we caught a line a block long waiting to board this NY bound bus.  Sure Memorial Day weekend probably played a big role here, but we wondered if there were [...]

Our PQ neighbor, The Shakespeare Theatre Company, just began its annual Free For All production. This year, they are showing Michael Kahn’s production of “Hamlet” at Carter Barron Amphitheatre in Rock Creek Park. The free production runs under the stars from May 22-June 1, at 7:30 p.m. nightly (no performance Mondays). We [...]

Jazz In The Garden Starts Tonight!

Posted by pqresident
May 23, 2008

One of our favorite things to do when the weather gets nice is hit up the Sculpture Garden’s Jazz In The Garden after work on Fridays. The National Gallery of Art gives the Sculpture Garden an outdoorsy European cafe feel every Friday afternoon by pulling in a jazz, blues or swing band act to play in [...]
