Street Sense Silent Auction This Thursday

Posted by pqresident
September 29, 2008

We buy Street Sense, the homeless charity produced “street” newspaper, from time to time to catch the vibe about what’s happening on downtown DC’s concrete and asphalt. It’s got a perspective you just wouldn’t get otherwise and we do like the program as it gets homeless people engaged in an enterprise that teaches them skills [...]

Old World Italian Coming To Restored Woodward (15th & H NW)

Posted by pqresident
September 27, 2008

The truth is sometimes stranger than fiction especially since the ground floor of the Woodward Building, a formerly aspiring Class C office building [tic] housing offices, a liquor store, a Christian bookstore and a bikini/club wear shop will now be getting an 11K square foot restaurant. That’s a 175 seat Old World Italian restaurant, bakery/sandwich [...]

Walking to our neighborhood grocery store Wednesday night (saying that never gets old!) we noticed that Busboys & Poets was open.  Walking in we asked and sure enough Wednesday night was opening night (with a soft opening the night before). Looking forward to adding this to the growing list of greater-PQ restaurants.

September 24, 2008

There will be a Chinese Cultural Festival this Sunday from 10am to 6pm!  There aren’t too many details on the one page website, but what’s important is that food will be served starting at 11am, along with a parade, dragon and lion dances, and kung fu demos.  And, you can get your name translated into Chinese free [...]

Dumont Condominium Update (4th & Mass Ave NW)

Posted by gpliving
September 23, 2008

Thanks to an anonymous PQL reader for letting us know that the Dumont Condominium has “temporarily” closed its sales office and for passing on a more definitive word that the 2nd (East) building will become apartments. There has long been speculation that the East building would become a hotel or apartments.  Since each of the [...]
