I went today and can confirm that they are not checking IDs. It also seems to be pretty popular; I had to wait an hour to vote. I hear the only time there is not an hour wait is at 8:30 am before it officially opens.

Thanks RES. I agree this office is hard to find, even with the address.

Most states and localities don't check IDs at polling places. That's not to say DC couldn't enact it's own laws, but generally its been practice in the U.S. to expand voting opportunities by removing restrictions, even standard ones like showing ID. Early voting and expansion of voting hours on election day are other tactics states have tried.

Also, ACORN was accused of voter registration fraud, not election fraud.

Many (most?) states do not require photo ID to vote. It has nothing to do with ACORN, anonymouse.

441 4th Street is also One Judiciary Square. It is not easy to find the official address on the building. I voted on Monday around 10:30. About 25 people ahead of me. When I got to the head of the line there were about 35 behind me. The line didn't move very quickly because they only had two machines available for electronic voting. ID is needed to enter the building but not to vote. You do have to complete a request form that is then matched against voter registration records.

I hear they are not checking ID for those voting early. Is DCBOEE a branch of ACORN? How do you hold a legitimate election without checking voters' IDs?
