I found the following on the site "infoapplestore".

Wisconsin Avenue - Washington (DC) - In late Sept. 2007 a tipster said Apple was finalizing lease plans for a store in the Georgetown district. A week later newspapers revealed Apple had purchased the three-story building at 1229 Wisconsin Ave. NW for $13.7 million. The land and building are assessed at $7,288,500, and the lot covers 7,456 s.f. Previous tenant French Connection renovated the building in 2004, so Apple could easily convert without a demolition, but would require approval from the 3-architect Old Georgetown Board for any exterior changes. The area is transitioning to more upscale retail stores. Within two weeks Apple was reaching out to existing region store employees to transfer to this future store. By June 1, existing tenant FCUK has moving out, but no Apple construction visible. In June, 2008 a tipster says Apple is having city permit problems. But by July 1st Apple had presented a demolition/re-built plan to the Board for approval. Construction could begin in early 2009, and it should be a high-profile store. [photo].

Since hearing about the Georgetown store and then CityCenter, I thought it would be an ideal location. It's gonna have a beautiful, two-story, glass facade retail spaces. And 2011 is right in time with the project delivery!
