Eating a Broad Street (chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, provolone) from Taylor II as I type. I've been addicted to this sandwich since Taylor I opened. Taylor II just as good, I'm happy to report. And they deliver!! Great addition to the neighborhood, and I agree with ml, we need more of theis kind of place and not more mega-restaurants, like Carmine's, which is going into the grocery store space on 7th. Indeed, with Potenza and the new Italian place on H owned by the Rasaika owner (first class food), I think Carmine's is too late to the downtown market for huge Italian restaurants. I don't think the market will support 3.

Finally, great sandwiches within walking distance. Saves me the trek up Florida Ave. to NE to pick them up from Taylor Made I.

What I still don't get is how can DC be so unable to provide decent bread for these guys, that they have to train it down from Philly?!

While we've got the high-end dining thing going on, DC still has a ways to go in developing what are just everyday staples in most other cities... great corner delis, bakeries, bagel shops, etc.

we were told that the pasta sauce appearing on the left shelves in the communal table photo is for sale. it stands to reason that the rest of what you see on the shelves (pasta, canned tomatoes, etc) is for sale too but you'd have to check with the store to be sure.

This looks cool! Looking forward to checking it out. Do you know if there is a market component as well, like with gourmet groceries, or is it just sandwiches and other deli items?
