Last year, we reported on Wagamama’s new stated opening date: early 2012. Well, as you can see by the following photo, work doesn’t appear to have even begun on the space. We snapped this photo as a couple of workers appeared to be doing something in the space, but nothing major. Some building supplies litter the floor with a couple of shop lights illuminating the bare interior.
But, you may not have even needed a peek inside the space as the facade is accumulating more graffiti, indicating that there is little interest in caring for the space.

I noticed workers transporting materials from the Wagamama space to Jaleo this morning. Makes me wonder if the Wagamama space is just being used as storage for Jaleo’s renovation.
@Anon 5:30 – we now have independent verification that the Wagamama space is being used for Jaleo renovation storage, as you suggest.

This reflects very poorly on a chain wanting to break into an area with many other food options. Most people probably won’t care once it opens, but I’ll remember that they held this space in limbo for YEARS.
