Well, I have to defer with the above comments. I was there for the opening last friday and back again twice since. My experience with the customer service at Zara was quite the opposite. They didn’t have a pair of shoes that I wanted in my size. I gave them my name and information. The shoes arrived last night and night and will be on the floor today. In all of my shopping over the years and it has been tremendous, there hasn’t been any retailer to “outdo” Nordstrom when it comes to customer service, they are still #1.

I know I’m late in responding to this post, but I finally got to Zara last night. The mens department was a big disappointment. It was tiny and hidden away on the 2nd floor. I had high hopes of getting some decent suits at this place, but I don’t think that will be the case.

I understand that the mens dept of these stores will always be smaller than the womens; I don’t know, maybe the way it was tucked away in the back (front, really) of the 2nd floor felt wrong.

Certainly happy to have that space occupied, just disappointed in the mens selection. Service there was on par with every other department store I’ve ever been in, not great but not terrible.

sorry to have to agree about the service..it was bad…even for dc… the clothes were nice and priced right..but..service THAT bad on the second day..and with zillions of girls “working”.. just not helping anyone..it was bizarro…

Yeah, when I went upstairs, it looked like the guy in mens was moving and shaking. But the 1st floor was staffed by zombies dressed all in black. Hopefully, they were just tired from the hassles of opening the store. But if the customer service doesn’t improve, I don’t think I will be shopping there much.

Okay…unfortunately DC isn’t exactly known for their top notch customer service. However, when I was in Zara the other day in the men’s section, I couldn’t turn around without 2 salespeople asking if I needed something. I’m sure it’s not the same in the ladies departments, as is the custom in the area. For some reason, DC’s clothing retailers are way behind in the CS dept. If anyone knows good salespeople, you should tell them to apply at some of these new PQ stores so they don’t fall into the same pit as some of the other stores in the area.

I must say I was shocked at the poor customer service at Zara’s when I visited the store on Sat. West Elm has great customer service so it’s not that DC is lacking in sales people with great personality. Perhaps Zara screens for sullen attitudes in their hiring.

pqgirl, i definitely agree with you. i dont know what it is about zara and customer service, but it leaves something to be desired. that being said, they do have great clothes and i like that fact that being right next to h&m i can hit two birds with one stone.

Went to Zara. Was excited to see size smalls since the G-town store is usually sold out by the time I get there (ladies, you know what I’m talking about).

But it wasn’t all rosy. There were five sales girls on the floor, no one offered to help me once and I was in the store almost an hour. The dressing rooms were already dirty, which didn’t make sense. But it was still nice to have somewhere to shop, since Benetton is closed and our neighborhood has the worst Banana Republic in the history of the world.

Zara will definitely be added to my shopping route in downtown DC! It is one of those stores where you need to check the tag to see what types of fabrics are used in each garment. Prices usually reflect the quality of fabrics used. The designs and styles are very nice!
