Foodie Radar: Masseria
Last night, we finally had the chance to eat at Masseria (1340 4th St., NE), the new Chef’s tasting menu restaurant by Chef Nicholas Stefanelli (formerly at PQ favorite, Bibiana). The ambiance is a carefully curated mix of industrial chic, vintage and hipster. The urban garden is going to be a favorite retreat on warm nights. We sampled 8 dishes in total, probably about 1/3 of the menu. Apparently, there are no bad decisions to be made on this menu. From the tripe and lobster to agnolotti to veal cheek, every bite was meticulously designed and absolutely scrumptious. We have no doubt Masseria will like be named Best New Restaurant, so go now before it’s even more impossible to book!
In addition to an absolutely impeccable dinner, the cocktail is broad and interesting. Our recommendation, “I Left My Wallet In Montreal.” The charred bay leaf adds a fantastic touch to this rye whiskey drink.
