Yep, same size… I’d say it’s beneficial to join the mug club if you live nearby and plan to frequent the Greene Turtle more often than not, or maybe you have season tix to a team at the MCI…errr Verizon Center. After 35 beers in your mug, it’s paid for itself, and it’s a one time fee, no annual membership according to the staff. After that, enjoy $1 off fill-ups whenever you want. We welcome the Greene Turtle as a local chain that serves decent food at the cheaper end of the scale compared to the alternatives in PQ/GP.
We went in Saturday night after the game. I was actually pleasantly surprised. The food was decent and came out quickly, the service was good, the space is nice and seems larger than when Drinx was there. I also thought it had a good selection of liquor and beer options, though I was a little taken aback by the beer prices. A few quirks, but that’s to be expected. They need to get their booth policy straight – we requested to sit at an available booth (there were several available), which had its own private tv since we wanted to watch some of the later games, but were told that the booths were for parties of at least 4 people. We then watched as a party of 3 and a party of 2 were seated after us in the booths. Humph! We both passed on the mugs – didn’t seem worth it all unless you wanted it for appearances. And how often do they wash those things, anyway?
I cannot comment on the special mugs because none were offered. However, we tried two different burgers from the menu along with french fries and cold draft beer. The food was good, beer was cold, and the service was great. They have a pretty good range of sport-food along with a childs menu (obviously a child/family friendly place). We will come back and it is on our list of places to take our granddaughters when they visit.
My recommendation is that everyone try them out.

We checked it out last night and were not impressed. They don’t have very many beers on tap, and what they do have is overpriced. The liquor was pretty cheap, though, and the food was decent. It’s probably a better match for the space than Drinx was, but to be honest, I don’t see it lasting much longer than any of its predecessors. Don’t go in expecting much – and don’t be tricked into buying one of their mugs. Although they promise that you’ll be the only one to ever drink out of it, several times last night we heard them tell people that “just this once” they were going to give them a refill in a mug that wasn’t theirs. Plus, the only advantage of having one is that you get a buck off regular price, but they’re much smaller than pint glasses so you’re probably actually paying more for what you get. I think I’ll keep my 35 bucks – thanks.
