The Arena Grill was the weirdest place. It was open for lunch and up until tipoff on every other home game.
As for the construction on the Akridge building, what is the 30% occupancy? I mean, who is going in there? If they aren’t releasing the info, my guess is we don’t want to know (another McDonalds and CVS, perhaps?)
Another thing, it’s interesting to put the pieces together. They were going to put that building up LOOOOOONG ago (2 years). So, basically, it’s taken them 2 years to get 30% occupancy. And they haven’t announced who is going in. Not a good sign….
Anon: Paranoia lately? 700 6th St NW doesn’t even have ground floor retail.
The reason the building has taken so long to break ground is that Akridge had trouble finding an investor. They finally found a Japanese company to invest.
The Penn Quarter office market is now competing with the huge near-southeast office market for investors.

It will be nice to have something more pleasant to walk by and hopefully to dine at.
Just as long as it doesn’t turn into a new corner for the homeless.
