600 Mass Ave NW Development Plans (Office + Retail)
Continuing our series on new neighborhood developments, we present the 600 Mass Ave NW development by Gould Property.
Summary of development: ~375,000 sq feet of office and first floor retail, 3 levels of underground parking plus a “concourse” level. Development includes demolition of one building (already completed) and the relocation of 2 row houses. The row houses to be relocated are just being moved a few feet, joining the existing row houses that are not part of the development.
Other than razing the one building, this development replaces only surface parking lots.
3 to 4 spaces for retail.
One anonymous commenter asked during the last few 600 Mass postings about the height of this development compared to the 6th & I synagogue. Here’s your answer:
Pics are public record at the DC Historic Preservation Office.

we call this building the north wall of chinatown. not only does it replace the old chinatown messed up supermarket but also tony chen’s upstairs restaurant where senator and royalty dined but also the origional location of the chinatown bus depot.
Maybe this will make the walk down Eye street a little more palatable coming home from a night out in Chinatown. Those of us living in 555 Mass may have to say farewell to views of the Monument… I better take some pics before the cranes go up.

GPLiving; you’re doing a great job with these posts, this type of public info that your average person never sees, good stuff, thanks much.
I wonder how many people saw the Post article about the property going in at 10th & K, with two art galleries (ground floor & penthouse).
