DC’s MLK (Central) Library Will Close March 4 For Major Renovation Project (901 G St NW)
Our local neighborhood’s and Washington DC’s central library, the MLK Library at 9th and G St NW, will close on Saturday, March 4, 2017 so that a major renovation project can begin. The project has been planned for some time and the first phase will entail the safe removal and disposition of all the currently library’s contents. Once that phase completes the hard hat construction and renovation begins.
The project will cost $208 million and run for 3 years until 2020. Once closed the two closest libraries to our neighborhood will be the Shaw and Northwest One libraries. DCPL will also open a Library Express location at 1990 K St NW per the Washington Post article.
