Nighttime Chinatown Express
We caught this shot last night after Chinatown Express (746 6th Street, NW) shut its doors for the evening. Click on the image to get a closer look and you’ll see the last diner of sign of life for the evening.

Doesn’t always have to be a point. It is just a picture of Chinatown coming to a close at night. Helps us recall what was when it is gone.
Isn’t this person in the space where the Grizzle Express noodle chefs do their work?? You cannot see someone in the dining room from that angle, it could only be someone picking up take-out.
“Nighthawks” is the first thing I thought of, too! Getting us all ready for the fall Hopper show, I see….
LizK hit the nail on the head. I was scouting photos in the neighborhood last night and the scene struck me as our very own interpretation of Nighthawks. I was fortunate enough to capture the right shot. the original painting hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago and it is stunning to see in person.
for the photo geeks out there, the contrast and brightness of the photo were adjusted but none of the colors have been manipulated. I used a tungsten color balance and a 1.3 second exposure (tripod mounted) to capture the image.

What’s the point of this? Is there something I’m missing?
