Arts Openings: Dana Ellyn’s Solo Show, WIT’s Summer Run, FlashPoint’s "Anonymous"
Rather than creating 3 separate posts, we decided to put all of this weekend’s arts events in one mega-post:
- Artist Reception (pdf): Saturday, June 9 from 6-8pm @ Long View (1302 9th St NW)
Dana Ellyn is our very own neighborhood artist from Mather Studios. In the Long View gallery’s upstairs annex, Dana is exhibiting approximately 40 new paintings which tackle the subjects of religion, politics, family and a few other issues. Also, her new 15 painting “Star Spangled Banner” series – one for each stanza of the national anthem – will be on display.
- Preview reception: (Tonight) Thursday, June 7, 6 – 8 p.m. @ FlashPoint (916 G St NW)
Showcasing “anonymous” artworks by 100 established and emerging area artists. Ten established area artists were invited to create 2’ x 2’ pieces, and serve as curators by inviting nine more artists to do the same.
- Now Showing: May 31 – July 13, 2007 THU 8pm | FRI – SAT 8 & 9:30PM Tickets: $10-15. Flashpoint’s Mead Theatre Lab (916 G St NW)
Pants optional!! WIT presents 72 unique shows over 20 nights at Flashpoint’s Mead Theatre Lab in Penn Quarter. There’s no set course for this run, every performance is improvised based on audience suggestion. These comedic shows range from a spontaneous musical to an unscripted exploration of summer camp.

Thanks for the post GPLiving! I thought I’d offer a bit more info about my “I Call Shenigans” show….
In addition to the retrospective of my “31 Days in July” project, I am exhibiting approximately 40 new paintings which tackle the subjects of religion, politics, family and a few other issues. And, last but not least, is my new “Star Spangled Banner” series for which I created 15 paintings – one for each stanza of the national anthem.
Hope to see you at the show!
