Asian Spice Outdoor Seating Livens Up 8th St
Just as we predicted, Asian Spice wasted no time in setting up their outdoor seating space. It is actually pretty fortified-looking by outdoor seating standards. But, even with the fortification, there is still plenty of room to walk by on the extra wide 8th street sidewalk. The seating brings life to the 800 block of 8th street which was most commonly known as the back-door exit for the Fado and RDF 7th St bars.
Asian Spice is located at 719 H St NW (8th & H St).

I really like what I’ve had so far at Asian Spice. While I’ve only eaten their sushi, all the specialty rolls were great. The fish is very fresh and service was good.
I do find their sushi to be a bit overpriced, however. Most of thier nigiri is $5 and up for two pieces. And the specialty rolls are maybe $1-2 more than they probably should be. Nonetheless, it’s a great addition to the neighborhood. I only wish they delivered!
Looking forward to trying their cooked items soon…although if it’s anything like Asian Spice’s sister restaurant, Kanlaya, I’m sure it’s delicious!
This is a great restaurant and is destined to become like Matchbook…long lines and waits. It’s got a great decor, good sushi and good service. Enjoy just walking in and grabbing a table while you can. Washington is going to discover Asian Spice soon.
Tried it out tonight, with mixed results. My sushi was excellent but my husband’s hot dish was so-so. Really good sauce and noodles, but the chicken was incredibly dry. We sat outside and it was a beautiful night! Overall, it was good, and we’d definitely go back.
It’s good but crazy overpriced. No way they will get long lines with those prices. I went on Saturday night at prime time and it was mostly empty. Granted it is new but new often = busy. The prices are outrageous.

We ate here over the weekend for lunch and it was so pleasant. It almost made me feel like I was in a different city.
The downside, is they are presently unable to serve alcohol on the patio.
Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable.
They managed to spring for nice big umbrellas, which is great.
The food was outstanding…very, very pleasant indeed.
