Bistro D’OC Now A Wine Bar?
Perhaps it’s all because of Proof? Last night we noticed that Bistro d’OC has added “and Wine Bar” to sign on their main window. Not sure if the menu or wines (or wine specials) have changed, but we’re big fans of this place so we’ll go on another fact finding mission to check out the changes. Theirs wines were always very good (if expensive) so maybe the sign out front is more of a reminder/advertisement to the neighborhood? At any rate, it’s another place to raise a good glass of wine in PQ.
Follow this link to a photo on about.com from 2006 which shows the window as we remembered it, sans the “wine bar” portion.

I love the moules and pommes frites at Bistro D’oc’s. It reminds me of the many trips that we have taken throughout France.
Part of the problem could be their service. It is not French inspired, often very curt and rushed.
We were there the other night and had a terrible server, but we still enjoyed our moules.

I noticed this the other day as well. I thought it was a simple attempt to get some business. I have been concerned that they will go out of business for over a year now.
When the owner was in Bethesda and had La Miche, they were extremely busy (you needed a reservation on weekends) and the food was great. When they opened this location, they changed their cooking. I know it’s supposed to be Languedoc cooking, but the tastes, even the bread, at Bistro d’OC doesn’t compare to La Miche when they owned it, and it seems to me that this is reflected by the volume of business they have been getting.
I think the “Wine Bar” is a good idea, but may not solve their problem.
