Canali Is Coming To CityCenter (978 I St NW)
We always enjoy Michael Neibauer’s Friday permit posts in the Washington Business Journal as we’ve been watching permits since as far back as 2006, well before the practice appeared in today’s blogs and news outlets. It’s a time tested way of finding out what will be opening in various retail spaces.
Today’s WBJ rendering includes the tidbit that Canali, a purveyor of fine men’s Italian clothing (our words, not theirs), is coming to CityCenter at 978 I St NW. They will join the existing upscale retail party going on in the complex as more and more of the spaces come on line. Benissimo!

if I recall, then Mayor Fenty started a Housing First initiative in DC around the same time that the Franklin School closed. it received a few press stories now and then under Grey’s administration but it largely seems to go unnoticed which is truly unfortunate.
indeed and thanks! the permit announcement indicates when actual build out begins as opposed to an announcement on the website which indicates the signing of a lease.
Joan – DC has been trying to do that since Fenty starting partnering with groups using that strategy.

I keep laughing at CityCenter .. an oasis of wealth or wealth-attractors in the midst of DC. It’s so incongruous and so obscene as we look at the increasing numbers of homeless families in DC and the Mayor, welcoming the wealth but stumped about what to do about homelessness. Why can’t we do what SLC did? http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/09/22/home-free
