Mount Vernon Triangle – A few tweets with photos showing what the New York Avenue Beach Bar (645 NY Ave NW) will look like. [Twitter – NYAve Beach Bar – Photo 1] & [Twitter – NYAve Beach Bar – Photo 2]
Downtown – The Gales School, that building at 65 Massachusetts Ave NW held up by girder supports, will be taken over and renovated by the Central Union Mission as a homeless shelter. We first mentioned this move on PQL in 2008 and the groundbreaking just took place. [Prince of Petworth]
Penn Quarter – The under construction Protein Bar at 7th and D St NW catches the attention of the Washington Post. [WaPo]
Downtown – District Taco opens at 1309 F St NW. A decent photo set can be found off the Washingtonian’s link (look for Slideshow). [DCist] & [Washingtonian]
Penn Quarter – Know what ramps are? No, not the ones used by skateboarders. These are edible and you can find them at the Thursday Penn Quarter farmer’s market on 8th St NW. A ditty on how to cook them is off this link in a new column in the City Paper. [Washington City Paper – Market Research]
