Downtown Office Building Sold To Douglas Development
The about to be former American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) building at 918 F Street (near The Ventana condos) and one of the pre-1900 buildings still standing in the area has been sold to Douglas Development. No price was disclosed but it undoubtedly was in the high seven or low eight figure range. The new office the AILA will occupy is also downtown at 1331 G Street.

I work for AILA in this building. We’ve got to be out of there by April 1 or daily penalties start kicking in. I hope Douglas finds a good tenant – the office space is kind of strange – 6 floors with offices off one side of a single narrow hallway on 5 of the floors. But it’s got a nice historic, old-timey feel. There are fireplaces in some offices (sadly not working of course). It’s got a great steel-cage elevator (one of the few remaining in the city apparently). AILA outgrew this space, with the explosion of immigration law matters in recent years.

What a great historic building in our neighborhood. This blog reported last May that it was under contract and due to settle in January of this year. I love it when a plan comes together!
