Downtown Restaurants Participating In Tap DC/World Water Week
Would you kick in an extra $1 or $2 when you eat out to get clean, healthy drinking water to those who need it the most? Here’s your chance. In the Western world, we take clean and safe running water (DC water lead content jokes aside, please) as a given but in many less advantaged parts of the world, getting access to water let alone clean water is a struggle that consumes a lot of human effort. Clean, safe water is one of the key elements required to reduce the incidence of disease and is essential to life itself. UNICEF, the United Nations Childeren’s Fund, runs World Water Week every year as a way to promote awareness and raise funds to get children safe access to water through the Tap Project. DC’s incarnation of the Tap Project can be found at http://www.tapdc.org.
To learn more about how readers and downtown restaurants are assisting with the project, check after the jump.
How do you participate? From March 22 through March 28, when you visit participating downtown restaurants and order tap water you will get a Tap Project donation card in addition to your check when you’re ready to pay. Fill in an amount on the donation card and that amount will be added to your bill as your contribution to the project.

Thanks for the info on this great cause. Not sure what Annon means by a solicitation… it’s not like you’re asking for money for yourself or your blog. I’d like to know more about opportunities like this in the future.
thank you for the feedback.
this story was posted both as downtown/PQ news and as a public service announcement (PSA) for UNICEF, a fund within the United Nations system doing charitable work. going forward, should we continue to put up stories with this dual nature we will look at ways to make the PSA intent clearer or render it in another form. PQL was not compensated in any fashion for this story. also, we are looking at other ways that PQL can incorporate public/community service into its mission.
as always, suggestions can be sent to our mailbag: pqliving [at] gmail [dot] com
I think this material is perfectly appropriate for PQ Living. If you don’t want to support the cause or feel uneasy about the method of fund raising then PQ has thoughtfully provided you fair warning of what restaurants to avoid.
I have to admit to sometimes becoming annoyed when I’m hit up for donations in the checkout line at the grocery store.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Is this soliciting?
I would like to continue to read this blog without being approached for money.
