RSS FeedFireplace Bars/Restaurants In Downtown DC/Penn Quarter
If you are looking for a fireplace bar or restaurant, then Penn Quarter and downtown DC is the right place for you. We’re huge fans of the warmth of an open fire while sipping a drink and Zagat recently posted on new fireplaces to check out. Three of the mentions are downtown: NoPa, Bar 515, and Catch 15. DCist also has their own fireplace list of the ten best fireplace bars/restaurants and in our neighborhood Poste makes this list for its outdoor fire pits.
We are torn between Poste (Hotel Monaco) and Bar 515 (the basement bar below the J&G Steakhouse in the W Hotel) as each has its niceties but Bar 515 is truly all year round because it is indoors. Bar 515 also has the 515 Society which is a nice way to get a few extras when dining there or at the J&G Steakhouse. We have to give Bar 515 a slight edge for these two reasons.
(We’ll also note that a few Penn Quarter/downtown condo buildings have gas fireplaces in their units, the two we can think of are the Cosmopolitan (715 6th St NW) and the Lafayette (631 D St NW).)
