Green Thumb
This view from a friend’s balcony of the rooftop garden at Oyamel (401 7th St., NW) got us a little curious. Thanks to an article from Washington City Paper, we discovered that Chef Jose Andres is trying his hand at growing his own produce in the heart of DC with the help of Up Top Acres. Several local restaurants and chefs have been going hyper local with their own gardens and farms, such as Charlie Palmer Steak, Poste, and Lafayette at the Hay Adams. If you’re like us and instead of a green thumb you kill everything you plant, then let the friendly folks at Love & Carrots help you plan and maintain anything from kitchen herbs to a full produce planter.
