McDonald’s To Open Friday!
We spoke with employees at the new McDonald’s location at 911 E ST NW. They told us McDonald’s would open this Friday. A quick look inside shows a couple of flat panel TVs, and the updated look we’ve discussed before. We expect wireless Internet to be provided as well. This location does not yet show up on the McDonald’s restaurant locator.
On a related note, folks at the Artisan tell us that McDonald’s workers cut the Comcast cable line to the building on Friday, leaving cable users in the dark for a couple of days. We did not, however, get confirmation from McDonald’s or Comcast about the cut cable line.

Artisan management sent out a letter this afternoon confirming that the cable outage was due to a mistkae by a McDonald’s subcontractor early Friday afternoon. The cable stayed out until Monday morning and customer service stopped answering any calls from this address on Sunday – apparently Comcast can’t be bothered to fix anything over the weekend!
Don’t get me started. I was on the phone with Comcast 4-5 times a day during the outage. Each day they went back and forth between acknowledging an outage existed, and saying there were Comcast technicians working on it, and saying there was no such outage and the problem was only in my unit. All this, even though workers kept coming to individual units and saying there was no problem in the building, and they weren’t aware of any outage anyone was working on. Each of them didn’t know what the problem was, and simply left. When I insisted there was an outage to customer service Supervisors, and said I didn’t believe anyone was actually working on it, because nobody could state who was working on it where, they insisted I just didn’t understand how support worked.
Now I understand why Comcast costs so much. Between completely inefficient handling of outages (I got $40 credit because 2 technicians didn’t show up for my scheduled appointments, all while technician after technician, who are expensive Comcast contractors, needlessly looked into unit after unit in the Artisan even though the main was fine, and nobody at Comcast had ownership of fixing the outage), and spending so much of our money to lobby the government to prevent us from having alternate providers, they haven’t seemed to invest adequately in their communications and other support services so customers are more satisfied. To me, their customer service is as bad as it was 10 years ago, with the exception of the sign-up process (no surprise).
VERIZON – BRING ON THE FIOS – I WILL BE YOUR FIRST CUSTOMER. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
Yeah, why doesn’t Verizon bring FIOS downtown anyway? Seems like the fiber’s already here for it.
The McDonald’s looks really nice. I can almost imagine myself saying “Let’s go to McDonald’s and read the paper” on a Sunday morning.
Not MacDonald’s but food related. I’ve been hearing rumors about Jaleo and a giant paella at the the Farm Market tomorrow?
Does anyone know if the rumor is true?

I sure miss the Wendy’s that was in that spot but nothing beats a clean city block and a Sausage Egg McMuffin in the morning on the way to work.
