Metro Formalizes Artistic Program
Metro announced their MetroPerforms! program of artists performing during the afternoon rush at various Metro station entrances around the area. Performances run from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. WaPo coverage can be found here.
Gallery Place performances will be on June 29, July 13, September 7 and September 21. Metro Center performances will be on June 18, June 25, July 10, July 31 and August 17.

I agree. Street performers, and I do prefer that they are somewhat regulated, offers a great atmosphere to an area.
We spent several years in Key West and the nightly performers always drew a good crowd.
It’s not online yet, but the current issue of Street Sense has an interesting article discussing homeless musicians who are worried that the Metro program will detrimentally affect their revenues.

Its nice that Metro is settup up a formal program for this, but why so few dates? Why can’t we just allow performers, period? It would evolve organically and we’d have music EVERY day.
