NBC4 Gets The News Wrong – Club At 8th & I St NW, What?
So, NBC4 has a headline today titled “Five Stabbed Outside D.C. Nightclub.” The only problem is that there is no nightclub at 8th & I St NW and definitely no nightclub named “Heart Of The City.”
Article text:
- Five people were stabbed early Saturday after an argument at a Northwest Washington nightclub, police said.
Officers were called to the “Heart Of The City” club at Eighth at I streets about 3 a.m. for a report of a fight. They found five people suffering stab wounds outside the club, police said.
We subscribe to the MPD 1D listserv and we received the following info yesterday regarding the incident:
- From a citizen: A Fight broke out inside RFD located at 810 7th Street NW. Management got the private party out the rear of that location onto 8th Street NW. From there everything broke bad with three people getting stabbed at 8th and I Street NW.
From the Commander: There was a triple stabbing in am hours in front of rhb [sic, RFD bar] club and one victim struck in head. No arrests made and info going to abra
Our question is, where did NBC4 dream up a “Heart of the City” nightclub on 8th & I? There isn’t even a liquor license for any establishment in the area, except PS7’s – which is an upscale restaurant.

It seems like everytime we receive an update from the police there’s a common statement, “no arrests have been made…” How much crime in our area, especially the corner of 7th and H, do we need before the District puts cops on foot on that corner and not just occasionally rolling by in their cars??? I lived in NYC pre- and post-Guiliani and saw first-hand the difference getting cops out of their cars and on the streets can make.
Holy crap…that is a pretty awful reporting on News 4’s part. I walked by there today and the only place I could have seen having an issue was the old Pearl nightclub.
If it is RFD (food does suck) that is too bad.
Saw some college hockey fans getting rowdy outside RFD hours before that. Wonder if this was they?
I figured NBC4 heard that the club was in the “heart of the city”, and mistook that for the club name. Good reporting, pqresident!
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
Heart of the City is referring to RFD. this is because the promo line for RFD is “The World of Beer in the Heart of the City.” NBC4 referred to the correct place but didn’t get the name quite right.
