NGA Sculpture Garden Skating Rink Now Open For Season (9th St and Constitution Ave)

Winter must surely be approaching because our favorite ice skating rink, the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden ice rink, is now open for skating through March 12, 2017. We checked out the ice last night towards closing time for our initial skate of the season and it’s in good shape. Also nice was the sparseness of skaters but that won’t last long. Once Thanksgiving arrives and the holidays are on people’s minds, the rink becomes very popular. (The next nearest rink is the Canal Park Skating Rink which is also now open.)
Enter the facility from the corner of 9th St and Constitution Ave NW during the evening or 7th St and Constitution Ave NW during the day. Skate rentals and season passes are also available. The nearby Pavilion Café serves snacks, drinks, and most importantly hot chocolate allowing skaters to stay warm.
