Washington Convention Center Barricade Begins

As many already know, DC is hosting the 2010 Nuclear Security Summit at the Convention Center just north of our neighborhood. Due to the many VIPs that are attending the April 12-13 summit, federal security personnel in conjunction with the MPD are rolling out an inauguration-style barricade around the convention center and surrounding streets.
Early this morning, we observed a handful of forklifts puttering around the Carnegie Library dropping off pieces of gates to form the barricade. As you can see from the image above (click it for a larger version), any PQer wishing to head north is going to need to make alternate plans. Also, expect traffic congestion in the neighborhood from Sunday (4/11) night through Tuesday (4/13) as all of those Marylanders commuting in on New York Ave will have to turn south on 6th St to get to H St to head further west.
