Wayback: Former F Street Nightlife At Fifth Column
We recently discovered a fun source of information that chronicles DC both present and past called DC Wiz. One page features the Fifth Column (915 F St NW) and has quite a few images and promotional flyers from the club during its heyday in the 1980s and 1990s. A Facebook group also follows the old venue. A number of clubs were within easy walking distance of each other during this era including Decades, Club Zei, Spy Club, Polly Esther’s, The Insect Club, and D.C. Space, and it’s safe to say that one could spend an entire evening club hopping in downtown DC.
When we moved downtown Platinum was still going strong at the F Street location but it ultimately closed down due to how disruptive it had become to a newly emerging neighborhood that just wasn’t old school DC anymore. The property is now under redevelopment by Douglas Development.
