Capital Fringe Festival Has Begun!
The Capital Fringe Festival entered it’s 5th season yesterday with the majority of shows playing just a short walk from many of our doorsteps. The festival headquarters and box office is located at 607 New York Ave NW and features a considerable bar and beer garden next door, named Baldacchino Gypsy Tent Bar. The beer garden is open until 1:30am every night.
If you are unfamiliar with the festival, we would like to point you to this Washington City Paper article about the festival, organizers and its history. The festival runs from July 8 – July 25, but many popular shows have historically sold out. To reserve your seat, you can buy tickets online.
We would like to thank all of the performers for writing in to PQL promoting their shows. There are too many performances for us to mention in this one post, but we hope to profile some shows in the coming weeks!
The Capital Fringe Festival is also on twitter and facebook.

I must admit that I have a weak spot for Landless Theatre Company’s shows. I was first introduced to the group at the first Capital Fringe Festival in 2006 with their show: Frozty The Abominable Snowman. Always a good and humorous time with just enough audience participation to make things unique and memorable. Protip: make sure you’ve had at least one more adult beverage than the band has had before the show.
😉
BTW – Their show this year is Carrie Potter and the New Moon Prom.
I saw an interesting and profound show the other night at the Goethe Institut. It was a a story about the son of a Holocaust survivor and was part of his PBS special. It is called “Chaidentity” and well worth checking out.
DC Theatre Scene has already posted 80 Fringe Reviews on their site. They will be covering all the shows. Check it out here;
