Chinese New Year Parade Roundup *video*
We don’t think we’ve seen as many people at Washington DC’s Chinese Lunar New Year parade as we did yesterday, but we were disappointed that the local network TV news outlets filed no video stories that we could find. In addition to VOA’s piece above, the Washington Post and the Washington Times filed stories along with this Chinese outlet. Perhaps this is a commentary on what carries the news of the day or perhaps it’s a commentary on our Chinatown. Regardless, it was a nice day to be out and about enjoying the Year of the Dragon!

Be alert with your car in Penn Quarter.
I saw a middle aged bald black man wearing a tan trenchcoat break into the passenger side of parked car in front of St. Mary’s church on 5th St, NW. (Monday, Jan. 30)
When I questioned him, he took off running. I chased him a few blocks but he got away heading towards Safeway.
