German-American Heritage Foundation Sets Eyes On Hockemeyer Hall (719 6th St NW)
The German-American Heritage Foundation is looking at acquiring the building at 719 6th St NW for use as its Heritage Center in Washington DC. The organization is in the process of raising $3 million to complete the purchase and renovation of this historical building – a campaign that is to be completed in May 2007.
The building, Hockemeyer Hall, was recently incorporated into the 777 6th St NW office building project. The building was saved from razing after the DC Preservation League quickly filed a landmark nomination in March 2004. An agreement was reached to incorporate the building into the 777 6th St NW office building project.
