History on Foot: FDR Memorial
How many of you have walked passed the corner of 9th and Pennsylvania and never noticed this small, nondescript white block near the National Archives? It’s no wonder, it hardly appears to be anything significant. Compared to the grandeur of Lincoln, Jefferson and Washington’s monuments, it would be easy to think FDR wasn’t as loved or revered of a president. In fact, it was his request that if a memorial were to be made, it be this simple and on this exact spot.
