Hollywood, Downtown DC Style
Anyone walking by the old convention center parking lot (now called ‘Center City Parking‘) will have seen semi trucks like this one that makes “Ridiculously Wide Turns” forming DC’s own temporary Hollywood home base. Walking to Brasserie Beck for dinner this weekend, pqresident spotted a mobile gym (much like The Muscle Truck) and multiple RVs for sleeping accommodations. State of Play starring Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe and a few other notables is in town shooting and Gridskipper has a running commentary and Google map mash up showing all the in-town shoot locations and latest star spottings. PQ Living is accepting paparazzi submissions.

Ah hah! Crowe was spotted last week coming out of Ben’s Chilli Bowl and I personally spotted him two days later “driving” down K street at 13th. I say “driving” because he was behind the steering wheel of a car that was on top of a flat-bed tow-truck/movie camera contraption. Then I saw him filming at Masonic Temple at 16th & S.
He’s been all over the city!

As I type, Russell Crowe is being filmed in front of the EPA building on Constitution Ave. between 12th & 14th Streets. I watched for about 30 minutes and saw them roll the cameras 3 times for about 90 secinds a pop. All-in-all, not very exciting. But I’ll go see the movie just to see how our city comes off on the big screen.
