Downtown Italian Festival This Sunday
Did you know we have some Italian influences in the neighborhood? If not, that means you haven’t walked by the Casa Italiana Cultural Center at 3rd and F Streets NW. It also means that this Sunday, June 20 is a great day to go visit because La Festa Italiana is taking place that day bringing a little slice of Italian cuisine, music and gusto to downtown DC.
Date/Time: Sunday, June 20 – 11:30 am to 5:30 pm
Location: 595 Third Street NW (3rd and F Streets NW – Metro: Judiciary Square Metro)
Admission is free and the festival features:
- Live music from classical to pop — and authentic Italian folk dance lessons!
- Italian chefs creating signature dishes, regional favorites, gelato and desserts.
- Crowd pleasing homemade Italian street food
- Free cooking lesson with Italian chef Antonio Iazzetti!
- Kids’ activities, crafts and events, including a family circus
- Silent auction and exciting raffle, featuring round trip tickets for 2 to Italy
- Free travel info and cultural exhibits on this year’s featured region, Molise.

I have been involved in the planning of the Festa Italiana 2010 this year and it will be amazing.
We have a lot of great entertainment including an appearance from singer Marco Fiorante who has been referred to as “the next Bocelli.”
Some of the food highlights include homemade pasta and bread, Italian delicacies, a roasted pig, sausage and pepper sandwiches, pizza, cannoli, cafe, gelato, sfogliatelle, and more.
Don’t let the heat stop you– this is an event you will not want to miss. You can cool off with a Moretti beer or gelato!
Happy Father’s Day to all.
