Local Vine Cellar (425 11th St NW) Now Open
The Local Vine Cellar wine and spirits store at 425 11th St NW is now open (202-618-3383, info[at]localvinedc.com). We stopped by yesterday afternoon for a rosé wine tasting and enjoyed the six or so pink colored libations available to sip. The store is stocked with wines from all over the world, spirits (craft and regular), craft beers, and sodas/mixers. In addition to the traditional wine making regions of the world such as France, Italy, California, and Australia, we also spotted some wines from far flung places like Turkey and Hungary. Notably, there is a rapid wine chiller inside the store where customers can cool wine down in ten to fifteen minutes.
Starting hours are Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 7 pm and Saturdays from 1 pm to 6 pm. Until June 30, a 15% discount will be offered on wine, spirits, and beer.
We’re usually not big fans of rosé but with six different types available to taste, we did find one we did like made from 100% Washington state Syrah that’s light on the palate and easy to quaff: the Charlie & Charlie 2011 Rosé. We will be enjoying it on our PQ condo roofdeck this Memorial Day weekend!
