PAUL Revered
We thought we would be writing a post about the newest PAUL location in Penn Quarter when we saw this sign the F Street side of Columbia Square (555 13 St NW). When we came home to write up the post however, we discovered that PoPville was way ahead of us, having blogged about this sign back in July of 2013 (we really need to get out more on F Street, apparently).
So our “look what’s coming to our neighborhood!” post has become a “what’s taking PAUL so long to open this location?” post. PAUL didn’t end up being all we had hoped when they opened their first DC location by the Navy Memorial (801 Pennsylvania Ave NW), but it is a good fit for the space and we’re happy they are in that spot. This Columbia Square location seems like a good fit as well, but since we’re not on F Street often we don’t know if there has been activity in the space to work towards an opening.
Right now there is no mention of the location on the PAUL website, but we’ll contact the corporate office to see if we can get an update on the opening.

I’d have sworn PQ was the first location Russell, which seems to be supported by this 2011 WBJ article: http://m.bizjournals.com/washington/print-edition/2011/04/22/france-based-paul-bakery-picks-dc-to.html?page=all&r=full
As well as this one from the Georgetown Dish: http://www.thegeorgetowndish.com/thedish/first-us-paul-french-bakery-opening-washington
The PQ Paul definitely opened before Georgetown’s. I remember both openings, but DC Eater confirms it http://dc.eater.com/archives/2011/11/21/pauls-second-dc-location-now-open-in-georgetown.php
Great, another Wagamama and red apron butcher – what’s up with these places not being able to get their act together – the fact that every last business in the area is swamped with business proves the area can sustain plenty of these types of establishments – just ask the uber successful Jose Andres and Ashok Bajaj who keep opening successful place after successful place in the area.

@pqliving bonsoir, as soon as the update is released, we will share it. Thank you
