Superheroes of History
We recently participated in the Superheroes of History sleepover at the National Archives (700 Penn. Ave. NW). This was it a unique opportunity to explore some of the immense work being done at the archives to preserve and curate historical documents, including the shining stars of our budding country – The Charters of Freedom (The Declaration of Independence, Constituion and Bill of Rights).
Designed for kids, the experience provided fantastic learning opportunities for young (and old) history buffs alike. Of course, getting to camp out in the Rotunda and have pancakes served the next morning by the Archvist himself wasn’t too bad either!
The next sleepover is scheduled for February 4, 2017.
Similar sleepovers are offered at the Smithsonian American History Museum, Udvar Hazy Center and Natural History Museum.
