The Smith restaurant, a casual American brasserie, will open in early 2017 per a recent job posting and construction is now plainly evident at the 9th and F Street NW location where McCormick & Schmick’s once operated. A peek inside showed framing in place with no interior drywall present. Plywood sits in the window frames where glass once was present. (The Smith’s website still says it will be a fall 2016 opening but we’re inclined to believe the job posting.)
The liquor license describes the restaurant as follows:
A neighborhood restaurant serving American brasserie food. Offering Entertainment and a Sidewalk Cafe with seating for 42 patrons. Total Occupancy Load of 346.
To get an idea of the menu, readers can peruse the New York Midtown menu or any of the other menus from the NYC locations. The Smith is part of the Corner Table Restaurants group headquartered in New York City.
