Wanna meet John Kerry?
You can meet the Senator in person Tuesday, February 28th at 7 p.m. at the Historic 6th and I Synagogue.
R.s.v.p.’s and a valid ID required- for more information, check out www.sixthinthecity.org.
If you can’t make it out to see the once-Presidential-hopeful, stop by 6th and I another time. It is worth the visit to see the beautiful historic sanctuary, which was the home of the first Jewish congregation in the District of Columbia. The building was most recently occupied by an A.M.E. Church, before it was reacquired for use by the Jewish community by investors Abe Pollin, owner of the Washington Wizards, and local real estate developers Shelton Zuckerman and Douglas Jemal.

Please note the Sixth and I Synagogue was not the first Jewish synagogue in DC. In fact, it was actually the second home of Adas Israel, which was formed 35 years before Sixth and I was built. In fact, the first formal Jewish congregation was formed in 1852–
Washington Hebrew Congregation.
