Who Can Take A Sunrise, Sprinkle It With Dew?
The Penn Quarter keeps getting sweeter! We just found out that a week ago Giffords started offering bulk candy for sale at $9.99 a pound. There are a wide variety of offerings that looked pretty good to our hungry eyes (all the office Halloween candy has long since run out). And don’t forget Giffords has an ice cream special on Mondays: $3 single scoop sundaes.

Thanks Annon! That sounds worth checking out, we love that new courtyard and don’t get over there enough.
This old guy remembers peppermint candy icecream from giffords in SS as a kid 30 years ago. Do they still make it?
#7, according to their website they have:
Peppermint Stick: Red Starlight-mint pieces crushed in velvet peppermint ice cream
This just-reaching-middle-age guy remembers the Giffords in Silver Spring growing up. A scoop of swiss chocolate or a handmade terrapin (it is Maryland, after all) were always the carrot in front of my cart. I am glad to see the candy counter return.
I hope that movie theatergoers do not stock up on candy to sneak in. As a film professional, I know that a large percentage of revenue for the theater is concessions. Theaters do not make money (for a period of a few weeks) on $12 theater tickets. And the rent at Landmark is high. Just a thought.
I for one am thrilled. If there is one thing that I like more than ice cream, it’s pick-and-mix candy! Thanks for the ‘scoop’, Columbo.

The new cafe in the Portrait Gallery has a small wall of 5 cent candy.
