Let The People Eat Donuts!
They say a picture says a thousand words. Instead of writing a couple of thousand words, we’re posting a couple of pictures. Dunkin Donuts is certifiably open at 601 F Street, NW, and the posted hours are from 6 am to 10 pm every day of the week. For seating, there are three two tops along the walls and a bunch of stools that still need to be put to use so plan on carry out most of the time. You heard it here.
Ed. Note: The address mentioned above is 601 F Street but the entrance for Dunkin is on the Verizon Center side of 7th Street between F and G Streets.

Ordered their #1 combo: two donuts and medium coffee. Friendly service, suprisingly competent for the first day opening. Coffee was good. They do have an oven, for their breakfast sandwiches and their flat-bread sandwiches. I had a sour-cream donut (my fave) and a glazed donut. It met my previous expectations.
It’s mecca! Disneyland on 7th Street! I checked everyday in the AM to see if it was opened yet and it opened at 2:30 PM on Saturday. Ditto on the hazelnut coffee, Bavarian cream on Sunday; Jelly Donut today. Finally a reason to get out of bed on Monday mornings! Has anybody tried the flatbread sandwich yet?
I am so happy DD has opened. I am a native Washingtonian, and have been a PQ resident for almost 5 years. But it was not until Sunday, when I was able to walk a block to DD for a bagel and coffee that I finally felt like I lived in a “real” city. here was something about walking out of my place in NY or BOS, and be able to get a donut within a block that seemed so normal. And now we have it. YEAH!
I was so excited to have DD open to have dunkachinos all the time. I was told that they no longer sell it even though it was on the menu. The girl said she didnt even know what it was Hopefully it will come back.
Sadly, my friend and I found our donuts dry – almost like they were yesterday’s. I suppose donuts cooked off-site won’t be as fresh as in-house donuts, but I’ve had gas station donuts that tasted fresher. Plus they were either out of or never had my favorites (at 8:30 this morning). The staff could use more training and/or experience, though service was okay. A bit disappointing, especially compared to the “Hot Now” Krispy Kremes up in Dupont, but not a disaster. It’s still a happy sugar-and-caffeine fix!
The jelly donut I had today was simply great. Glad KK didn’t open here. Besides all they sell are those sickenly sweet donuts.
the food you see in the photo was just fine. best of all, the coffee wasn’t burnt like you’d get at Charbucks.
