WMATA To Sell Its 5th & F St Office Building?
WaPo reported last year that Mayor Williams was suggested to WMATA that they sell their current office and relocate to a site near the Anacostia metro station – a move that would spur development in the Southeast neighborhood.
Well, nearly a year later, the Washington Business Journal reports the following:
- One of the District’s most ambitious economic development groups is pushing for Metro to take its transit-oriented-development mantra seriously.
The Anacostia Waterfront Corp. sent a proposal to Metro’s board this week proposing a joint development to build a new headquarters for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority in Anacostia.
All of this is exciting news for our neighborhood because something more exciting could be done with the current WMATA office building occupying 5th & F Streets NW – which looks like it belongs in Crystal City.
