Changes to 7th Street between Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Avenues
This presentation updates the DC Department of Transportation’s (DDOT’s) proposal to create left turning lanes at intersections along 7th Street between D Street and Massachusetts Avenue in lieu of the northbound bus lane. At the same time, DDOT is proposing to create for a one-year trial, the Downtown BID’s proposal for expanded temporary sidewalk areas in lieu of parking and at crosswalks to see if they enhance the pedestrian experience. This meeting is a final opportunity for the community to hear additional details of the updated proposed changes and to weigh in on them. We will see what the pedestrian expansions would look like with planters and perhaps other street furniture, and hear how they will be cared for and monitored to determine if the improvements improve bus operations, reduce congestion, and improve pedestrian safety and comfort.
Comments at this meeting should also be emailed to Megan Kanagy before August 23 as only written comments will be considered. Megan’s email address is Megan.Kanagy@dc.gov.
