Poste Brasserie Patio Opening & Earth Day Celebration Today
Poste Moderne Brasserie (555 8th Street NW) let us know that they’re opening their patio this afternoon for the season for full service and throwing a backyard bash in honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day.
Bev Eggleston of Eco Friendly Foods will provide a 400 pound pig which Chef Robert Weland and his team will smoke and roast for the celebration. From 5:30 to 8 pm, a $15 entry free (cash only) will score a taste of the roasted pig and one of mixologist Rico Wisner’s garden punches. At the event, all “Garden Menu” food and select drink items will be available for $4 each. The new Garden Menu will be unveiled but we also know from experience that you can’t go wrong with the Truffle Frites.
A percentage of the entrance fee and food and beverage sales will benefit both the Washington Youth Garden and Beet Street Gardens, a community garden project founded by Katie Aldworth, resident server at Poste. For more information on the Washington Youth Garden, visit www.washingtonyouthgarden.org and for more info on Beet Street Gardens, visit www.beetstreetgardens.org.

Service on the patio at Poste yesterday was HORRENDOUS. There was ONE poor waiter working the patio area, tending to the regular patrons as well as the ones attending the Earth Day event. Poste, next time you have an event like that, make sure you are adequately staffed.
