A construction permit sign is now up for a new retail outlet in Penn Quarter called Protein Bar in the former location of the flower shop fronting 7th Street NW near the corner of D Street. This space is in the Market Square North (701 Pennsylvania Ave NW) building. We’ve reached out to the Protein Bar in Chicago to see if they are expanding to DC and checked out their menu too. This could be yet another food option for all us PQers! Thanks goes to PQ Living tipster Barry (great gumshoeing, Barry!) and we’ll keep you posted.

Just a slight slip of the keyboard fingers. The Protein Bar is not going into Market Square North; it is going into Market Square East; you did get the correct address, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Market Square North is on 9th Street between D and E, north of Market Square West.
