A New Year at Minibar

I was fortunate enough to secure two seats for dinner at Minibar (405 8th St, NW) last night. The first and last time I ate there was two years ago and I was anxious to see if the experience would be as incredible. The chefs did not disappoint! A few highlights of my meal are shown below.
Rumor has it that after America Eats Tavern closes in July, the space will be completely renovated into a kitchen laboratory and expanded Minibar. America Eats Tavern would move to a new location as a permanent fixture on the dining scene and Café Atlantico would also eventually re-open in a new home. Please let the rumors be true!

Should have gone there instead of Rogue 24 for a double birthday celebration. Fondest memories of the first time but also remember I could not finish the menu – hard to believe that some said they left there hungry.
Plans have been in the works for years to turn the bldg into a laboratory of sorts. Guess it comes down to timing.

I heard the similar rumor from a chef at Oyamel. I was talking to a bartender about what happened to the Cafe Atlantico drinks and the chef happened to be walking by at the same time. He stopped to talk for a few and mentioned that Minibar would expand to fill the entire America Eats space. He said Jose wants it to become 18 seats, but the staff wants it to be 24 seats. Minibar would be on the upstairs levels where food would be served. Downstairs would become Minibar Lounge with only drinks being served.
