Affle Hop

Posted by Columbo
June 27, 2010

As we noted in a tweet back on June 12th, the old Waffle Shop location has opened as yet another tourist merchandise store.  We don’t know yet what happened to the planned (rumored?) PQ Tackle Box restaurant, we hope they still have plans for our neighborhood.  On Saturday we noticed that most of the letters [...]

Posted by pqresident
June 26, 2010

Food trucks, cafeterias on wheels if you will, seem to be sprouting up everywhere; the Sauca truck shown parked above on F Street NW at 7th Street had no shortage of lunch customers. There’s the Fojol Brothers, District Taco and Sauca trucks just to name the ones we can remember. The public can follow their [...]

The Washington Post reported that the Borders at 14th and F St NW, formerly housing hometown retailer Garfinckels, will become a Clyde’s restaurant in 2011. The bookstore and media industries are undergoing significant change and while there was talk that TJ Maxx might have taken over the space from Borders, it looks like it will [...]

Cribs XVII: Making A G-Man Envious

Posted by pqresident
June 20, 2010

If you worked for the FBI, you could roll out of bed and into work if you lived in today’s crib. It’s right across the street from the brutalist style government HQ building in The Artisan at 915 E Street, NW (Unit 615). Like last week’s edition of Cribs, we’ve visited a  floorplan similar to [...]

Neighborhood Pic: What’s On At Market

Posted by pqresident
June 19, 2010

Even though you need to bring extra green to afford the goods, we love the Penn Quarter tradition of hitting the Farmer’s Market on 8th Street NW on Thursday afternoons for fresh, local products. This photo came from PQ Living’s flickr photo pool – the tag is pqliving. Photo credit: coolsneakers2000
