A GP Living reader spoke with a construction worker who confirmed that Balducci’s is, once again, going to be occupying the Jefferson space! However, we haven’t found any official news – oh, the drama!

Potato Valley Cafe Coming To Penn Quarter!

Hi, I wanted to pass on that there is construction going on near the clara barton lobby entrance. The brown paper on the windows is gone and, according to construction workers, the Potato Valley cafe is coming in. Here’s a link to the one in Annapolis.

Smithsonian Folklife Festival Starts Today!

The 40th Annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival starts today and runs through July 11th!
Check out the schedule of events. All events take place on the National Mall between 7th and 14th streets west of the capital.

Shimba Hills Coffee Opens In Gallery Place!

Shimba Hills Coffee (601 F St NW) opened this weekend. Along with their coffees, the store also sells several flavors of gelato! Just looking at the gelato display makes the mouth water – it has an excellent presentation. The store was also fully staffed with about 5 employees behind the counter. [...]

China Doll Closes In Gallery Place (Another Jemal Project In The Works?)

Jeff wrote in to let us know that the China Doll (627 H St NW) is now closed and has sold its building. The WaPo reports the following info:
“Linda Lee said the building is expected to be part of a retail, office and condominium project. The family declined to name the buyer.”

Woolly Mammoth’s On-Line Yard Sale (Sorry, The Caskets Are Sold Out)

The Woolly Mammoth is having an online yard sale featuring items from The Velvet Sky by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
There is not a huge selection, but the prices can’t be beat! It also looks like the DC area’s goths have already picked up all of the caskets.
