Neighborhood Pic: Window Dressage

Posted by pqresident
May 30, 2010

PQ Living hasn’t posted a Photo of the Week in a while so we’re going to retitle the series Neighborhood Pic. Regardless, this photo of an Urban Outfitters Ann Taylor Loft (707 7th St NW) employee touching up the window display caught our attention for its color texture and smile evoking nature. It made us [...]

Posted by pqresident
May 24, 2010

We’ve been meeting lots of other Washington DC neighborhoodies (see our DC Neighborhoods linklist in the right column) at various events around town recently and we’re always looking out for fun sites that might be relevant to downtown living that we can pass along to readers. We ride the 30s, X2, 80, L1/2/4 buses and [...]

Pitango Gelato Opens Their Doors (413 7th St NW)

Posted by pqresident
May 22, 2010

Even though the press release indicates Pitango Gelato’s (413 7th St NW) opening today, the newest in chilly, organic desserts-to-go in our neighborhood opened yesterday afternoon where we found a bevy of customers in line. In an area where openings are sometimes measured in years, Pitango sprinted to an open from January to May of [...]

It’s coming up on that time again…election season is in the fall and this year we have the big one for DC, the mayoral election. Yard signs are a plenty even in the urban core we call downtown DC and the Penn Quarter. The DC Open Government Coalition, a group dedicated to promoting transparency in [...]

Restaurant Coming To 912 F ST?

Posted by Columbo
May 19, 2010

We noticed a building permit taped to 912 F ST NW that looked interesting.  Issued to Douglas Development, the description of work reads “Remove Existing Sub-Floor and Replace.  Frame New Walls.”  New sub-floor?  New walls?  Sounds like they might be getting ready for a new tenant.  A search of the DCRA Permit database produced a [...]

Posted by pqresident
May 18, 2010

UPDATE (May 19): We heard back from Gifford’s management and they said that one of their operating licenses lapsed and are in the process of renewing it.
