Spectacular, Spectacular!
Happy 4th of July PQers! Tonight one of the best FREE events of the year, the 4th of July fireworks on the National Mall, will take place in our neighborhood. The display begins at 9:10pm tonight. I plan to skip the heat and security lines and simply walk down to 7th Street at about 9pm. In past years, they’ve opened up the streets at this point so you can stand in the street and watch the show without any of the hassle.
Here are just a few other things to consider doing today.
Stop by Jose Andres’ pop-up restaurant, America Eats Tavern (405 8th St., NW). They will be serving a special menu 11:30am—8:30pm and then closing their doors for good. I plan to get one last fix of the amazing peanut butter and foie gras sandwich.
Don’t bother with the grill, head over to Poste (555 Eighth St., NW) for their $35 grilled foods menu.
Hill Country (410 7th St., NW) can deliver to you free in the neighborhood or you can pop in for drink and menu specials. Don’t forget to try one of their Shiner Floats or Spiked Frozen Lemonade, both were recently listed by BYT as some of DC’s best frozen drinks for the summer.
Declaration of Independence Reading, 10-11am, at the National Archives (Constitution Avenue between Seventh and Ninth streets NW).
At 12pm, there will be an outdoor Salsa Concert at Woodrow Wilson Center Plaza (1300 Pennsylvania Ave. NW).
Stop in at one of our many local Starbucks locations for a FREE tall hot coffee today as part of their #indivisible conversation.
Check out the National Independence Day Parade starting at 11:45am (Constitution Avenue and 7th Sts. NW).
Stop by Co Co. Sala (929 F St. NW) for a chocolate patriotic pop ($3).
If you know of any other specials in the neighborhood, please let me know. Have a great holiday!
